who are we?

We are a group of working musicians who love to play chamber music together! Chamber music involves a small group of musicians, such as the iconic string quartet, and has been around for centuries. It is often referred to as the ‘music for musicians’ - a chance to gather in a more intimate setting and enjoy conversation through our instruments (with plenty of snacks and laughs of course). The only thing that makes this experience more magical is being able to share it with you!

What I enjoy most about BCP events is how accessible they make this art form without any pretentiousness. The collaboration between musicians feels like a conversation we’re all part of, creating an inviting sense of community.

The Brooklyn Chamber Players are a vibrant and inspiring ensemble of incredibly talented musicians. Whether it’s an intimate salon in a historic brownstone or an atmospheric concert in a downtown Brooklyn church, every performance feels like a magical evening with friends. The warmth of the setting—complete with wine, cheese, and conversations with the artists—makes classical music feel alive and personal. If you’re looking to reconnect with classical music or discover some of the most original modern compositions, I can’t recommend following the BCP enough!

I’ve been playing chamber music with Sam Nelson since we met at the SF Conservatory of Music in 2010; It has taken us from busking on the streets of San Francisco to worldwide stages and residencies at major universities including Stanford. My favorite aspect of being a professional violinist is forming close bonds through music - nothing compares to ‘speaking’ through Beethoven!

I appreciate how BCP provides an intimate atmosphere where all are welcome to enjoy classical music. The salon-style of performance creates a feeling of a private concert in your own home!

I was absolutely captivated by a recent surprise performance of a Max Richter composition by the Brooklyn Chamber Players at the SoundMind Center. It was one of those BCP afternoons—immersive, moving, and filled with such passion from the musicians. BCP consistently brings both classical and contemporary music to life in unexpected ways, and this was no exception. Follow them if you want to be part of unforgettable afternoons of music!

To me, chamber music is special because it’s a true collaboration between everyone in the room — not only are the musicians playing off of each other, but they’re also inviting the audience members to get close (whether physically or emotionally) and really connect to the music that’s being made.

I love that BCP fosters a space to experience new and well known classical pieces. As a newcomer to chamber and ensemble music I feel welcomed to enjoy all they have to offer.

Chamber music is music that isn't possible without the artistry, creativity, and collaboration of others. BCP is the kind of group that exists because the people in it love making music and sharing it with the community, and I know audiences hear that come through in every performance. I'm honored to be part of that.
